Extracurricular

Night time.  An alley.

1.1
Worm's eye view of Henry standing and looking down.  He doesn't look super impressed.

1 HENRY: Don't you get it?

1.2
Move to show that Henry stands above Mikey.  Mikey lies in a pile of garbage on the ground.  It's clear that Mikey has been roughed up some: his clothes are ripped and he has minor bruises and cuts.

2 HENRY: As long as you keep disappointing me, I'm going to keep teaching you these lessons.

3 HENRY: So have you learned anything yet?

4 MIKEY: Yeah...

1.3
Mikey looks to his side and notices a big piece of pipe lying on the ground near his outstretched hand.

5 MIKEY: I think I have.

1.4
Henry reaches down to help Mikey up.  Mikey accepts his hand.

6 HENRY: Good.  Then let's get out of here.

1.5
Back on his feet and still holding Henry's hand, Mikey swings that pipe for all he's worth, smashing Henry in the face.  Maybe do this panel in silhouette, leaving the details of the violence to the reader (although feel free to have some blood / teeth flying out of Henry's face).

NO COPY

1.6
Mikey looks down at the unconcious / prone Henry, shocked and afraid at what he's just done.

NO COPY

1.7
Mike runs off.

First Day

The Canadiana continues!

1 - A new Member of Parliament walks towards Parliament Hill.  They maybe look a little nervous.

MP (thought balloon): This is it.  My first day.

2 - Our Member of Parliament is inside the building, walking the halls.

MP (thought balloon): I still can't believe that I work here now!

3 - Our Member of Parliament enters into the House of Commons.  It is pretty grand.

MP (thought balloon): Let alone the fact that so many people have put their faith in me to represent them and their interests in our country's greatest institution.

4 - Our Member of Parliament sits at their seat, preparing to rise as their riding is called out.

SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE (off-panel. unconnected word balloon): The honourable member for--

MP (thought balloon) (interrupting): Here goes nothing.

5 - Our Member of Parliament stands, screaming their head off.

MP: @#%&*!

Les Voyageurs

Some pseudo-Canadian history for your comic script today!

1 - Early morning.  Pre-dawn.  An establishing shot of a deep forest along a river.

CAPTION: We do not lead an easy life.

2 - Same pre-dawn time.  A group of six voyageurs are in the process of waking up from a sleep beneath their overturned canoe.  Some are further along in the process than others.

CAPTION: We wake before the sun comes up.

3 - The day has run its course, and the sun is setting.  The voyageurs paddle their canoe furiously, although their fatigue is clearly evident.

CAPTION: And we paddle until after it has gone down.

4 - Daytime.  The men are portaging their canoe across land to the next portion of their travel.

CAPTION: We bear a heavy burden.

5 - Nighttime.  The men sit around a campfire, eating dinner, telling jokes, singing songs, and generally having a pretty good time.

CAPTION: There many are reasons we choose to do this.

6 - Daytime.  The men in the canoe look towards the water in horror as one of their own drowns in the water below them.

CAPTION: But there are times when we question if we've made the right choice.

The Set Up

1 - Close-up of a door with a frosted window.  There is writing on the window, but all we can see is "Private Investigator".  It may or may not be possible to see figures within through the glass.

CAPTION (PRIVATE EYE): When you're in my line of business, you get all kinds of strange requests.

2 - A stereotypical Private Eye sits at his desk while a stereotypical dame leans on it towards him in a seductive manner.

CAPTION (PRIVATE EYE): My current client has some rather unique tastes.  And there's a deal going down that she's very interested in.

3 - Our Private Eye is in a bar.  It's clear that he's been roughing up some of the customers, with some bloodied barfliess lying semi-conscious on the bar room floor and the bar looking kind of like a hurricane just came through.  Our Private Eye has one of the mooks by the collar.  His face is already bloodied and bruised; he holds up his hands to protect his face as he tells our Private Eye what he wants to know.

CAPTION (PRIVATE EYE): Details are sketchy at first, but with some discrete inquiries, I get the answers I want.

MOOK: It's going down at the joint on Gladstone and Fourth, alright?

4 - Our Private Eye is on a bicycle, pumping away at the peddles furiously.

CAPTION (PRIVATE EYE): I make my way over as fast as I can.

5 - Our Private Eye stands in a grocery store in the produce section.  He looks down disappointingly at an empty display.  The display has a big sign that declares "Oranges - 3 for 1" in big, bright handwriting.  Maybe have one gross looking orange on the display, or one on the ground rolling away.  The important thing is that the oranges are pretty much sold out.

CAPTION (PRIVATE EYE): But I'm already too late.

6 - Our Private Eye is exiting the grocery store.  He's rolling up his sleeves and he looks mad as hell.

CAPTION (PRIVATE EYE) (1): Someone set me up to fail.

CAPTION (PRIVATE EYE) (2): And I intend to find out who did it.

Best Series of 2012

We're getting ever further from good ol' 2012, but I want to finish up that trip down memory lane by taking some time to talk about my favourite comic book series of the year.  Fair warning: there may be a bit of overlap between my top single issues and top series - it's almost like those were my favourite issues for a reason.

Best Single Issues of 2012

Alright, so there hasn't been a heck of a lot going on here of late, so I figured why not throw something up to mix things up?  It's admittedly a little late for a best of 2012 list, but even though we did our fair share over at the Weekly Crisis, I never found the time to put together my Top 10 Single Issues of 2012 list.  Well, I actually did manage to get the list together, but never took the time to write up a post related to it.  It's a little too late for such an endeavour at TWC at this point, but this is my own site and I can do whatever I want.

So I'm doing this.
